A reader requested this hideous abortion to the blog. Yes, Toyota did make an ugly looking car at one time. Check out the appendage on the rear hatch. Is that an ATM machine? Might be kinda handy if it was! You might think the atm machine was bad enough, but think again. Check out the dashboard for the angle and tilt gauges. Yeah, I bet a lot of these Tercels hit the slopes and needed to know if they were in danger of tipping over! It might be good if you had a barf bag handy when you view the next picture of the interior.... There will be no comment on the stylish seat cover materials used as I am too busy using the previously mentioned bag.

Shut the fuck up! >:( I own that car and it is not ugly and those who think it is ugly or talk poorly of it can suck my balls! It is the American cars that suck and make me wanna barf, such as Ford Escorts or other Fords, etc., per se!
I have a junkyard in VA and I have acquired more than half a dozen of these amazing cars.I currently drive one daily.It might not be pretty, but it is a mechanical masterpiece.One of Japan's true high points. If taken care of the running gear will easily surpass 300,000 miles. The 4 wheel drive is amazing.We get some fairly decent snow accumulation where I live and so far I haven't failed to reach a destination in this car no matter how bad the conditions were.I also have many Subarus of the same general era and design (4wd wagon) also a great vehicle.The Toyota has several advantages.More headroom,more cargo space,and easier to work on to mention a few.I do like the full low range of the Suby's transfer case but u can't have everything in one package.I have also made quite a bit of money on these cars.I replaced the engine in a 87 that i got for free,the engine coming out of a parts car that was also free and sold the car to a hippie for $1500.Hes been driving it for 5 years nearly trouble free and is still tickled pink.I converted another 87 from auto trans to manual trans for another hippie and she smiled when she handed me $1700 cash,a half gallon of really amazing peach brandy,and a bag of funky herb.Shes been driving the car for 2 years almost trouble free and is still tickled pink. Hey now...why so hostile? Don't you know that funky is the new cool? I have just acquired two for free and started reading what people have to say about them..these are cherished. In fact, for two days worth of reading forums, blogs, and comment posts...not a single person, out of probably thousands, said these cars were piles of shit. NOT ONE. The majority of the folks that used to own one miss it terribly, and if you are any sort of car fanatic, you will know that just means the value will go UP. Sooo, styling be damned....I don't quite give two fucks what you or anyone else thinks about what I am driving...I'm gonna sport me a Tercel 4WD.
I am going to drive the holy shit out of that car and from what I have come to believe...It'll love it.
